Hello guys!

GAK here ...
I have done a few benchmarks between the two cards after I purchased a used ASUS R9 290 DCII. It performs pretty well for the price and has more VRAM than my old 780 Ti.
I got the used R9 290 DCII at a relatively cheap price (locally) and couldn't resist but buy it.
I thought the price was too good to be true, and I was half right about it, this card just loves to overheat. even with 100% fan at+100mV it can reach 95 C within a few minutes in Crysis 3. So there was no hope to try to push the voltage more, I have expected more of the beefy ASUS cooler. At the end I managed to OC the card at +44mV/+50PL/1100 Core/1450 Mem/ 70% fan. and managed to keep the card at reasonable temps, it sounds like a jet engine though, but what makes it worth it is that it was close to my 780 Ti in most games (there are a few expections, some Nvidia titles for example), and it costed me half the price.

Those are my OCs :-

780 Ti: 1188/1890 (347.52)
290 : 1100/1450 (14.12 Omega)

Recorded with MSI Afterburner. Please keep in mind there is about a ~9% performance hit due to software recording.

I might do more benchmarks if asked as long as I am willing to buy the game.

Specs:-

Core i7 870 @ 4214 MHz
8 GB DDR3 Mushkin Enhanced 4x2 2400MHz
Asus Maximus III Formula
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 PSU
Asus VG236HE 1080p120

Bye!

Nice job with the video. The cut scenes are probably not a true gaming benchmark. And the live play was just different enough in scenes to render, it is hard to compare. But point well taken.

Btw, have you changed the thermal paste on the R9-290? My R9-290X with the DC II cooler doesn't have that high temp problem. And my 290X is factory OC'ed and in "Uber" mode.

Does sound a little hot, maybe a little maintenance is called for? ;)
Just for your interest I ran the TR benchmark on my setup (stock i5 4690K/Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 OC) and got: Min,47, max78, average61.1 which tends to make liars of those who say you need the latest and greatest CPU/MB/RAM for gaming.
And is the Metro 2033 run from the original or Redux version?
