Acer Windows 8.1 disk usage at 100% help

I'm experiencing a similar problem. I think it is something about the "services", many of which I had either shut down or run manually with an idea that these would have been beneficial for a quicker startup. Now in Task Manager it is signalled that "System" is the highest disc occupier with the disc running as high as 99%. 
What should I do?
