I would like to hook up two 2560x1440 monitors (DVI-D inputs only) to my desktop at work that is used only for development work. It is a Core i7-4770 on an Asus Z87-A motherboard with a 650W power supply. I am pretty sure the integrated HD Graphics 4660 cannot drive those monitors, so I would like to get a graphics card on the inexpensive side that is capable of driving those two monitors over DVI-D. Any recommendations?

And in the spirit of teaching a man to fish, how can I tell from looking at a graphics card's specs whether it is capable of driving multiple monitors at a given resolution? I may add a third monitor at some point in the future, so I'd like to be able to figure that out for myself.

Thanks,

Dan

Nvidia and AMD give you a break-down of GPU specification on their websites. Here's one for a GTX 750; http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-750/specifications.

And here's one for the R7 series; http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/graphics/desktop/r7#.
