Can you damage the cpu socket by not removing the plastic cover when installing ? (lga 1150 )

Solution
According to my install instructions in the mobo manual,
1. Pop clips, lift lid.
2. Correctly align the cpu by pin1 and alignment slots.
3. Gently install cpu, lower lid, snap bar in place.
4. Remove plastic socket protection cover.

If that's the plastic you refer too, leaving it till last won't hurt at all, as my manual anyways, says to leave it until last.

I mean just releasing the arm and putting the cpu in there, but it'll automatically pop off when fully closed. Would the plastic add some extra pressure and bend the pins ?

According to the instructions that came with my last three (X79, Z97, H97) boards, I was supposed to install the CPU with the cap in place, and it would pop off as I clamped the socket down on the CPU, and that's just how it worked.
