Hi

Just bought a 780TI instead of a 970 - then realised that the 780ti being an older card, probably means it'll consume more power.

I have a Corsair HX520.

Here's my other specs:
Intel i7 2600k @ 3.8GHz
Corsair Vengeance 16gb @ 1.5V
Radeon HD5770
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3

Thank you!

Solution
Really cutting it close with that one. It is a good PSU.

I would feel better if it was 550-600. You might get by without OCing.
You are just now getting away from the 5770? This is going to be an amazing experience for you. I had it, even the move to a gtx 570 seemed massive. You are gonna going to piss your pants with delight.

On a more serious note, spend the money and get a more powerful psu. 2600k and 780ti are both just dying to be overclocked

haha yeah, mainly use my rig for video editing now - which is why I need the upgrade but still - looking forward to playing some games on this thing! :) I'm half tempted to take the 780ti back and get the 980 instead of upgrading my PSU? Wouldn't be much out of change?

Why would you be worried for the mobo?

Interesting, that's not overclocked though...

if you read the article you would have seen.

"We have also tested various other systems for maximum power consumption. One of our rigs with a 3960X overclocked to 4.6GHz, with an AMD 280X only pulled a maximum of 434w from the wall, and numerous other lower end systems which only pulled around the 200-300w mark."
