Now that I know my PSU can power my new GPU I'm giving my old one to my dad. The only problem is his computer must be at least 6/7 years old!

Is this PSU going to explode if I try to install a HD5770? It's only using onboard gfx atm.

Here's a pic!

A Radeon HD 5770 graphics card requires that the PSU have at least one 75-Watt 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connector.

I highly doubt that the AL-8400BTX has any PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

The OEM of that PSU is Allied / Supercase. That's an OEM that should be avoided since they earned a reputation for exploding PSUs if an attempt was made to draw the amount of power specified on its label.
