hi all. i have purchased a ASUS GTX960 graphics card to run 4 screens.

i have connected via 1 x DVi, 2 x displayport and 1 x HDMi.

The screen connected to the HDMi connection is being detected by the PC but nothing is displayed on the screen (it says no cable connected)

I have tried 2 different monitors and 2 different cables to the hdmi port, so eliminated them as the cause.

If i just run 1 screen from the HDMi port nothing is displayed.

All other ports are working.

with the 4 screens connected as above. i can do a screen shot which shows all 4 screens! but still do not get an image on the monitor connected to the HDMi port.

is this a setting issue? or is the hdmi port on the graphics card defective?

Thanks in advance

Solution
It is likely that the HDMI port is defective, you might want to try it in another MOBO or someone else's PC, try integrated graphics if you have them and see whether your PC has detected anything in the PCI-E port. By the way a 960 only has 2GB of VRAM and if you plan to run four screens on it you are likely to have issues, just saying.

Still not sorted.... A little update. i bought a display port HDMi convertor and plugged in. 1x DVi 2x Display port converted to DVi and 1x display port converted to HDMi that didnt work either!!

so.. i changed it for a display port to DVi convertor. now all 4 screens work!!! im now running 3x display ports (converted to DVi) and 1xDVi
what is it about the HDMi?? my problems solved but still puzzled why i cant get an image using HDMi cable? all my screens are the same and new. could it be a setting on the screen? they are. Benq LCD GL2250HM.

NexusDota. why do you think i'll have problems? what kind of problems? i would be interested in your views. BTW i'm not gaming. its all remote access, spreadshheets and webpages.

Tras - what was your card model specifically?

I'm having the exact same issue with a ASUS Geforce GTX 960 Strix which I bought two days ago and returned to the store as defective and explained the situation with the clerk.

I replaced it today with an upgraded ASUS Geforce GTX 970 Strix where I have the exact same issue now after trying to plug in HDMI again. Same issues, I can only get signal out of the DVI port!

Hi NaveedVancouver,

I was wondering whether you ever resolved this issue as I've recently purchased a Asus GTX 960 STRIX but am experiencing problems in getting an image detected from the HDMI port. DVI works fine and unfortunately I do not have Display port connections to check these ones?

Thanks

William - I have no idea what's going on with HDMI output and these cards, but I went the Displayport -> HDMI route and things are working out great. I'm using the card with a 46" LCD TV (it's a media center/gaming rig with a Bluetooth Dualshock 4 controller). Kind of disappointed that HDMI never worked properly but happy that it's at least working. The HDMI signal is also routed through my at home receiver, so all good there on the various forms of digital sound (PCM Direct, Dolby 5.1, DTS, TrueHD, etc).

I too have had problems with the MSI GTX960. It was working with one motherboard. I changed motherboard and that didn't work. Changed back and issue is now on both motherboards. I am having to use the DVI port when I want to use HMDI as I want sound too! Very frustrating. RMA'ing things like this can be a real pain in the backside too! We don't all have 'spare' cards to test all the ports, boards, connections etc.

Would be interested is a solution is found.
