Is Team Group Xtreem Series RAM compatible with Asus Z97 Pro Gamer and i7-4790K?

Hello,

I'm planning the following gaming-PC:
Dator2_zpskx7eqvpq.jpg~original

Now I showed this to a friend of mine and he told me to make sure that the RAM and the mobo is compatible with each other.

Motherboard:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z97PRO_GAMER/

RAM:
http://www.teamgroup.com.tw/filterable_product/tabs_detail/data/en/9/537/zfKsFi.html

CPU:
http://ark.intel.com/products/80807/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_40-GHz

Now on Team Group's website they only mention X79 mobos and intel 3rd gen processors. Will this be an issue then? Or have Team Group simply not updated their website?

The ram would work but it's not on the qualified vendors list. The list is on the Asus website under support tab, and will show you every component that works best with your motherboard.

Hey, and thanks for the reply!

Yes, I noticed that these modules weren't listed. However, there are other Team Group modules there on the list. Would it be safe to assume that this model (Xtreem Series) also works flawlessly because of this, or do RAM architecture differ a lot between models and thus causing incompability?

It should still work but I wouldnt say flawlessly, but it might. It could be that the modules you have chose were not made until after ASUS tested there products on there board and have not updated since. I know you would be fine if you used the chosen RAM, it would just be wiser to pick from the qualified list.. Im not completely qualified to comment on RAM architecture..

Hello,

I had totally forgotten about this thread.

I've been discussing the matter with Tradesman1 here on TH, and he said that I might have to OC the CPU a bit to get it to work. But some 4790K-units will manage it without OC. It all comes down to the individual unit I'll get (fate's a bi**h ain't she?)

As for the mobo itself there shouldn't be any complications. And Asus do list team-RAM in the 2800 series, so I see no issues with 2400 then.
