i am currently building a pc, the evga G2 and sea sonic x series have been recommended to me but they only run on single rails, why? why would you say you still think they are reliable? (i have heard that if single rail units overload the will pretty much fry everything attached to them)

Solution
In a quality unit like the Seasonic X or Evga G2, it makes absolutely no difference between multiple rails and a single rail. They will both perform as stated. Only in uber cheap, old design psus will this matter, so with your choices, its a moot point.

The same risks apply to multi-rail units.
Look at it this way, a single rail unit has less hardware which translates to less chance of risk!

There are some quad rail units that have separate rails, not tied together at output. These usually run 12-18A per rail, with dedicated outputs of cpu, pcie1, mobo+accessories, pcie2. Usual claim is 6-700w although in no way is this possible considering the outputs are separate, not joined. Also usually found in indian/Asian markets.
