Hi folks:)

Well its been a while since ive turned to the community for help but im at a loss currently & need some better minds to help me through a few things if possible?

This past week Ive upgraded / rebuilt my system with the following components:

i3-4160
Gigabyte H81M-H
Gigabyte R9 280 3xGB
Corsair CX 750 watt

Using my old HDD from my previous builds totally about 2TB (they are getting on a bit in years btw)

Anyway my first attempt at a clean build & install led to a semi stable W7 install that ultimately wouldnt boot at all, choppy performance, extremely slow boot (the cursed black screen hang on explorer) & what seemed like all manor of problems, so ultimately another fresh install which has led to thus:

Numerous conflicts, I/O's, Memory Addresses, IRQ 16 & errors galore in the event viewer such as igfxCUIService, Intel Graphics Control Panel service & many more.

I initially thought there was some conflict with the onboard Intel HD drivers & AMD ones so disabled the onboard via bios & deleted the drivers but to no avail.
It seems again to be "semi" stable at the moment but only a few mins ago it died on reboot & the mobo wouldnt even give me the "beep" of life. Unplugged a system fan & it worked again, replugged fan an its still working =/

I currently have no idea whats wrong, if one of the new hardware is defect or if its software. Im no genius when it comes to all this but can work my way around them & fix it up if I can find the right advice etc..

Anyone? HELP!!

Cheers in advance:)

the whole "unplugged system fan and it boots" plus the fact that you are using a CX PSU (a very subpar PSU) makes me think it's a power supply issue. Other tests you can do to rule out components for instance, is to take out the GPU and try to boot with onboard graphics. If it's stable then, it could be the GPU or again, the PSU (since booting without the 280 would free up some stress on the PSU). Could try booting with just a single stick of RAM and swapping between them to rule out any possible RAM issues too.

Since the problem is kinda intermittent and not indicative of a specific part, you have to start by ruling out what you can first.

The full non booting issue only happened once in a whole series of reboots/installs over a 2 day period plus with it being well over the min req for that card Im hoping that unless faulty its not the psu. I get where your coming from but ive never had a problem with Corsair CX range & on the first day of fun with the build it got a full workout & the system didnt suffer any power loss.

The whole unplug/plug in thing is mysterious & it could be psu but im open (& hoping:) it was something else.

What about the conflicts/software side of things? Im at a loss with that :(

well, I was just suggesting some things you can try out to troubleshoot the issue. Whether you do or not it is up to you of course.

the sudden conflicts and errors in the event viewer could be a number of things honestly. I went straight to hardware first because since you said it was a completely clean Windows install, it's unlikely to be a software issue. If anything, a faulty/dying hard drive could be corrupting the windows install causing the errors to pop up in the event viewer. You can try running a SMART scan on the drive to check if there's any potential issues with it.

The advice is appreciated:)

For what its worth (foolish or not) ive ran burnintest & furmark, both gave 0 errors & furmark I ran for 20mins under 100% load so if there were any psu problems im sure they wouldve reared their head no?
Will give the smart scan a shot as the HDD's are the weakest part of the chain but it just seems odd =/

check your bios the newest bios on some of the h81 is f8. if you have the f7 bios download the f8 and update it. on reboot make sure ram set to xmp profile. also make sure the mb set to standard speed not over clocked. make sure the intel chipset drivers..mei drivers are installed. also make sure your sata ports set to achi mode not raid or ide.

Motherboard is a Rev 2.0 & shipped with the 4th Gen Bios of FA but checked & all up to date.
Ran Memtest overnight & no errors.
No fastboot or overclocking of mobo.
Chipset drivers all installed.

I ran a scannow via cmd & that fixed a few issues it seems, stability once booted seems better but im still experiencing extremely slow boot up & showing conflicts/sharing which is something im not 100% on, although Event Viewer is showing no errors since the scannow.
Examples of them are:

I/0 Port 0x0000E000-0x0000E0FF AMD Radeon R9 280 Series
I/0 Port 0x0000E000-0x0000E0FF Intel(R) Xeon(R) Processor E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor PCI Express x16 Controller - 0C01

IRQ 16 Intel(R) 8 Series/C220 Series PCI Express Root Port #1 - 8C10
IRQ 16 Intel(R) Xeon(R) Processor E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor PCI Express x16 Controller - 0C01
IRQ 16 Intel(R) 8 Series/C220 Series USB ECHI#2 - 82CD

There are various others that share a common PCI/Intel/Mobo conflict so am a little lost on that side of things so any inside info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
