Build:
ASUS M5A97 R2.0
G.Skill Ripjaws 8 GB
AMD FX-6300
ASUS R9 270 DC II 2GB
WD 1 TB
Rosewill RG-530
TP-Link WN851ND 300 mbps

Okay, so since I put it together (yes, this is my first build), the rig has turned on every time I pressed the MemOK! button or the DirectKey button. Last night, my new EVO 212 cooler came in, and I decided to install it because the one that came with the FX-6300 was not working too well (idle temps continually increased past 40 C). I also installed some software.

To summarize, the following was installed last night:
1. EVO 212 (thermal paste along with the fan)
2. Driver for TP-Link WN851ND (https://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=33&system=8)
3. Driver for ASUS R9 270

After all of the updates, I shut my PC down normally. This morning, the computer would not turn on. After some trouble shooting. ere's what I've noticed:

1. The motherboard LED light is on.
2. I did the PSU paperclip test and it worked, so it can't be the PSU.
3. BIOS was up to date when I checked the version number.
4. The thermal paste I applied had moved off of the CPU and oozed down the edges of the CPU (I've taken it out and cleaned it with alcohol and cotton swabs).
5. The green LED light for the ASUS R9 270 is no longer on when I switch on the PSU.
6. I did the 1 stick of RAM, CPU/fan, and motherboard power source test. It does not turn on.

Did I brick the motherboard by installing software for the wireless network card? Or is this a single component issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Okay, so I couldn't find a motherboard. However, I did do the paper clip test again. This time, I also connected the 6 pin power plug into the R9 270's slot. The fans on 270 were spinning. Does this count as alternative test?
