PROBLEM! I have installed I7 4790K + MSI Z97 Gaming 5. Computer wont start

The only thing I have on this MB is power, 1 stick of RAM, 1 system fan, the CPU and the case on/off switch. Depress the switch and sys fan spins for a second and some red lights flash. I have reseated the RAM still no joy.

What next?

Are both 24 and 8 pin power cables connected? If yes, start the board with only CPU and CPU fan installed. See if the CPU fan does spin.

took the board out of the case, moved the RAM around using combinations of sticks and slots....... same indications.

Bad board?
