Ive been looking into the Origin EON17 SLX and the Alienware 17 to have a more mobile workstation/gaming machine. I have so far like what Ive heard, read and seen on the Origin the best but it seems that the battery life is kind or crummy, which has led me to be a little hesitant. Ive also read some articles that has people rallying pretty hard for the alienware or razer better but they never really seem to have a good reason. is this do to them just favoring a brand heavily? So my main question is in without being brand bias which of these 2 would be better for a workstation/gaming laptop or if they seem very similar what would be some good deciding factors. Honestly if it weren't for the battery life being mentioned in a lot of articles id probably already have made up my mind. Thoughts, again without being brand bias as much as possible please would be greatly appreciated. I will be using this for many things including but not limited to gaming at highest settings, watching movies, picture editing, storing a ton of info and pictures and many more work projects. Thank you for your time and thoughts

What you have to do is look at the components. Both are configurable. Origin is available with SLI graphics and Alienware isn't but Alienware offers the graphics amplifier which can give desktop graphics performance (heat) outside the laptop. Origin offers the top of the line processor and ALienware's highest is slightly below but pretty much everything else is the same.

You can configure both and select what components you want Origin allows you more configuration choices then Alienware although Xoticpc allows you to configure each component like Origin but Alienware sells 3 basic configurations.

I have an Alienware 18 which has SLI graphics but Dell has gone with thinner devices for 2015 and discontinued the 18.

There are some other laptops i would prefer , such as the MSI GS70 Stealth-037 because of the slim look and it has all the performance you will want and need for gaming and workstation activity's. I had to chose between the 2, the EON17-SLX because its more workstation grade. Aleinware 17, has a alot better specification.
