CPU overheating - need help

Hey all, I posted another thread after upgrading my graphics card and a user helped me out in there and we discovered my CPU is overheating pretty badly. It's an i5-3350p 3.1ghz. LGA1155 69W. It hovers around 55-60 Celsius just with web browsers open and what not and if I open any game like League of Legends or World of Warcraft it slowly climbs all the way up to 105 Celsius in which case the FPS drops so low they are virtually unplayable.

I'm not super tech savy but I can build my own comps and install my own parts so I'm looking to replace the intel cpu cooler/heatsink with something aftermarket to see if that will cool it down.

My mobo is a ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 Mobo that uses socket 1155. I'm not sure about cpu coolers and what not if they fit all mobos or if I have to find one that fits my particular mother board so I'm just looking for some help with that.

Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

Thank you.

I did take the heatsink and fan out a bit ago and cleaned it out pretty good. It was very dusty but I still had the same problem after remounting it. The temp just climbed up to 105 Celsius and it was unplayable and I'm concerned I may be damaging the CPU by letting it get that hot.

Also if you have any links to those coolers I'd check them out. Just want to make sure I get the right one.

What do you mean by ambient temperature? Just the temperature it's at for normal use? Right now it's at 50-55 Celsius on the 4 cores. I don't think it gets much lower than 50 Celsius from what I've seen so far. Also I don't overclock or anything like that.

you wanna get new thermalpaste cause its already went bad cause 1 old ,2 cpu was overheated and the paste not good anymore.you should not use pc anymore till you apply new thermalpaste.

Okay, I've ordered some and I'll try that out. If that doesn't seem to help any other suggestions? Also do you only apply the thermal paste to the processor or do you put some on the heat sink as well?
