Just read a few reviews and it says nvidia shield console support's 4k gaming. Why upgrade to 980 gtx SLI when you can game on 4k with the Nvidia shield console for $200? LMK what you guys think?

Solution

Heheh nowhere near... it's based on grid.
You are not playing on the actual device, it just gets streamed to you with internet, that's the reason for the latency aswell.
i think a pc with 980 is the best way to go ;d

you won't game on 4k. you'll most likely play games on 1080p 30-60fps. crysis was shown in 30fps 1080p and i think it will have also a high latency, however for it's price, it's really good

no being fair to the shield this was just an outright lie as crysis 3 was running nativley not through grid
