Is 85ºC safe for an intel CPU with stock cooler?

Ok, so I bought an i5 4690 (not K) and I decided to go with the stock cooler for now, I decided to check my temps with bioshock infinite, the GPU was ok (i think) going around 72 - 78 Cº (GTX 760 MSI) and my CPU was arround 80º but the maximum was 85º. I ran prime95 and went away for a couple of minutes, when I came back I saw it at 95ºC. I instantly shut it down, I am thinking of getting a cooler master 212, but am I safe playing bioshock and other demanding games? I set the fan to ran at 100% at this temp. Should I buy it as fast as possible, or can it wait?

Solution
It should be okay. I'm using HWMonitor myself. If the temperatures are correct, then your cpu is overheating. There must be something off with the cooling and or airflow. The cooler might not be getting power, it might be broken or the thermal pastes faulty. Or it just is not enough. Whichever it is, 80C will fry your cpu sooner or later.

I would double check the temps with different software. 80+ for CPU is too high. You should try to keep it at 60 or less while under load. GPU can heat up to 80 but keep the CPU down. I have oc'd my cpu and it is staying under 60 with just a bit better cooler than the stock one.

You might want to consider checking if your thermal pastes are okay between the cpu and the cooler.

I used RealTemp to check my temperatures, I'm not at my home now to check with another software, but is it reliable?

Ok, thanks, my next buy will be the cooler. I will try not to play any intensive games. By the way, the cooler master 212 is enough, right?

I'm probably going to get a better one, but thanks a lot.
