What is a Socket?

I have the motherboard linked below and I wanted to get a new CPU Cooler. I see some CPU Coolers saying they are socket AM3 etc. What socket is my motherboard? Thanks a lot guys!

Your mobo is AM3+ which in terms of coolers is the same as AM3.

From experience, AMD coolers fit AM2 AM2+ AM3 AM3+ FM2 probably FM1 and FM2+ (haven't tried), this includes your board.

Depending on your cpu I can't say that I recomend this but my friend ran an FX-8320 off this little thing for a while until the CPU died (not from over heating, twas a lemon unfortunately).
