is my system future-proof?

No computer is future proof. Its a very strong system by todays standards, how long it will last is down to two things, how quickly games evolve over the next few years and your expectations. If you insist on very high settings then 2-3 years, if you dont mind dropping the settings over time then 3-5 years

If you go with an SLI capable motherboard(http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2383187/motherboard-tier-list-z97-chipset.html and better than the one you have), and a good PSU of about 750W, you can get another year or so by adding a second GPU when you start to run out of steam.
