I have for 4gb ram in one channel and want another 4gb ram for second channel. I heard that both the ram should be same frequency and of same timing. So I only want to confirm that can I run 2 rams of different frequency and of different timing on my motherboard or the timing and frequency should be same of both ram?

Thanks in advance.

You can run RAM of different frequency and timing, however for the frequency your MBO will automaticaly set them both to lower one, but the timing you'll have to set manualy in BIOS. They have to BIOS config for the both channels has to be exactly the same. (I have 2x4GB G.skill sniper + 2x4GB ripjaws installed).

You can TRY and mix DRAM from different packages, there is no guarantee they will play together (even identical models of sticks from different packages) the DRAM/sticks in a given package are tested to play together and manufacturers guarantee by the package you buy. The forums are full of threads of people mixing DRAM from different packages and them not working. It's a crapshoot, they might play, they might not
