Hi,
Lets take for example Far cry 4 whose recommended requirement is I5-2500S 2.70 GHZ and Geforce GTX 680 against fictitious system I5 4690 3.50 GHZ and Internal HD Graphics 4600.
RAM 8 GB in both

So how should I compare both configuration? Is it possible to calculate how much FPS both configuration can give? Does better cpu can compensate for poor GPU?
Thanks in advance

Hello.
The short answer is no. You need every specification listed. So a better cpu does not compensate a poor gpu, because they have different tasks to do.
When you are looking at a system requirement you have to meet all the listed parts one-by- one. and usually it's the best to look at the " recommended requirements" not the minimal, because game developers usually missinform about requirements.

example:
if you want to play a game on " high " settings at 1080p resolution with stable 60 FPS, it's usually above the recommended.
In case of Far Cry 4 to play it on very high- ultra settings i would recommend an i5 4690, 8 GB RAM, and whats really important is a strong GPU like the GTX 970.
To play it on medium high settings i5 4690...

To play it on medium high settings i5 4690, 8GB RAM and a slower GPU like the gtx 760-770 or something.

note that opposite is true aswell if you have a gtx 980, but a poor cpu like amd fx 6xxx or i3 it will hold back your gtx 980 from working as intended

Hi,
According to Games Debate FX-6300 can run Fry cry 4 at 46 FPS, Battlefield 4 at 50 FPS, GTA 4 at 10 FPS and while GPU Geforce GTX-750 Asus 1GB according to Anandtech Benchmark 74 FPS (Medium Quality - Battlefield 4) ... So technically can I run Battlefield 4 at medium quality? Is 40-45 FPS good for gaming without any lagging?

Those are probably average fps, there will be drops.

Best thing to do is look for benchmarks with fps charts that show min and max fps along with frame times.

So you can better gauge how often and for how long it goes under your preferred min fps.
