Need help upgrading my motherboard and CPU

I am going to upgrade my 5 year old AMD 780G chipset mobo to something newer. It appears that Intel mobos/CPUs provide more processing power per dollar. I have done mobo upgrades in the past but always AMD to AMD. But, I am not impressed with the direction their going, and would rather invest in Intel or FM2+. The AM3+ mobos don't have on board graphics, and I am not going to buy a 760, and downgrade from a ATI Radeon HD 3200 to HD 3000. I do very little overclocking, and don't need anything fancy with all the bells and whistles. Just something basic. I play mostly the Sims 3 and 4, download music/movies, browse the web, and watch HD video. And have a $350 budget. I will be reusing my hard drive, and 6GB DDR3 memory from my old HP desktop. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Solution
That combo is heck of alot better and the 750ti is optional at this point since it will be over budget

The one i suggested gets beaten by a i5 but graphics wise both cpus are about the same i would suggest the 750 ti to have a enjoyable experance in the gaming section and this card can stream HD video very smootly i suggest you get both if budget allows it.
you wanna make sure made your mind what you gonna buy and research on thous parts, good luck.

I am going to need a case as well, mine cannot be reused, as it is too old not in good shape. I was thinking about getting a bare bones kit, such as...http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2149186

or...
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9639350&CatId=333

Same motherboard as the first, Intel Pentium G3440 CPU.

I am going to be using the on-board graphics, until I can afford a descent card. Preferably a Radeon R7 260x/250x.

Should I go ahead and buy the kit, or are there better options for a $350 budget??

Great suggestion, but I also need a case. So, I was thinking...........this combo....http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2149274, plus the card, a 750 ti

I know this question has been answered, but isn't an i5 a quad core? I am just thinking that upgrading to an AMD FX-6300 six core would be better. I just need some help deciding what would be the best performance wise, since I don't like the 760g chipset, I would rather go for a 970. Unless someone can convince me otherwise.

Basically, all I am going to need is a case, motherboard, CPU, DVD drive, and power supply....like in this combo I was going to order, but is out of stock.

even if you did get that you still need a gpu get the 750 ti still if you can
and the i5 beats that cpu but the fx should do well for what you are doing also you need a new os and HDD if you don't have one

I have a hard drive I can reuse, and I have a retail copy of Windows 7, but I need to do something soon, because my computer has been running really slow, even after upping the memory to 8gb and doing routine maintenance on it. The whole machine itself is struggling to keep up and is not meeting my needs anymore.

Ok, great. But, what about FM2+? They also have interigated graphics, and if I get a Radeon HD 6670, or 6570, I will have dual graphics. That should be enough until I can afford a good card.

That's a nice setup, but I switched the case to this: http://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-MicroATX-Tower-Computer-RANGER-M/dp/B006BCK7RM/ref=sr_1_16?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1426097975&sr=1-16&keywords=micro+atx+case

Thanks, I really like the blue LED lights, it also looks like a good budget case to build with. And, I also switched out the i3-4150 for a Intel Pentium Processor G3258, and everything totals up to $343.34, so it's with my budget. I can always upgrade later. It does outperform the processor I have now, a whimpy phenom quad core 9150e.
