Okay, so I'm running Windows 7 and every time I press the S key, my screen fades white and my curser is replaced with a crosshair. I am also using Mouse Keys due to a mouse failure, but I've already tried turning it off to see if the problem goes away to no avail. I have also restarted my computer a handful of times. Google has turned up nothing on the issue and I am at my wits end with this damn thing.

Solution
That sounds pretty funky. Can I suggest doing a Malwarebyte(s) anti malware scan, and installing a dedicated antivirus and having a look. If all else fails, I would suggest backing up important files, doing a virus scan on them on a separate computer (VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO THIS), wiping the hard drive and reinstalling windows. It sounds like you have a pretty serious error.

Other than that, perhaps S is being bound to something else and/or is being used as a function key of some kind?

Good luck!

If you were using Mouse Keys, I'm guessing that the S key was mapped to a middle button press or to maybe one of the move or resize options. Do you have a restore point avaible to before this started happening? When did it start exactly? Soon as you started using Mouse Keys or did you make some changes? Try a different keyboard maybe?
