Not really. An i3 is capable running 960 with no bottlenecks.

No the i3 and gtx 960 should be a good match and perform well. Anything higher than the gtx 960 would be better off with an i5.

I`m not agree because a i5 has only more cores, nothing more.
If you have a fast i3 cpu you can even get away with a GTX 970 with no problems.
