Keyboard and mouse not working after Ubuntu !4.04 LTS updates

I have gone to several links trying to find a way to fix this problem with my keyboard and mouse not working on the sign in screen for ubuntu.

Before the update they were working fine, and they work fine on the dual boot menu when selecting windows 8 or Ubuntu, (which I assume is the grub menu) and even work fine when running Windows. When I run Ubuntu though, they do not work whatsoever.

Is there a way I can uninstall ubuntu and reinstall? Should I even uninstall it? Or is there a way I can fix this?

What is the hardware you are running on - laptop/desktop? What kind of keyboard/mouse you have?

I figured it out, it seems I needed to run an older kernel and run an update.

An older kernel fixed you issue? If so then you should report this as a bug to Ubuntu or the Linux kernel developers so it can be fixed.

well I went to the older kernel and used terminal to do what I found to fix it. someone already had the input and I copy and pasted. Does that still count? How do I send it ubuntu?
