I am following these videos for instruction when using liquid ultra for CM Nepton 280l.

I intend to use it for a 5930k.
I like the method in video 1 the most, but for my specific processor + nepton 280l, I am not sure how thick or how spread I want the paste.
I would prefer an application with the same spread and thickness as in video one, what do you guys think?
Also, is it necessary to remove the CPU from the motherboard to apply the paste, as long as you are careful applying it? There is a lot of space so currently I assume it is not a problem, and I intend to use the pensel
