I am thinking of buying a new processor but is it compatible with my mother board?
Current Precessor:amd athlon 64 processor 3500+
Motherboard: Hp dx2255 MT (GL753PA)
The processor i am planning is AMD 3.5 AM3+ FX 6-Core Edition FX-6300 (FD6300WMHKBOX)

Solution
A 6 core AMD processor is inferior to a 4 core Intel processor for gaming. More cores does not always mean better performance in every situation You really need to look at a complete new build, including case and PSU if you are building with gaming in mind. Take that old HP, the WHOLE thing, and recycle it at your local waste disposal location.

could you recommend me a motherboard? Also will i have to replace windows after changing the motherboard?

You have a HP prebuild in a micro tower with an old AM2 socketed motherboard. The only place you will find an upgrade is try to find a used cpu on ebay. Honestly though, this system is not worth spending money on. Even if you were to upgrade it to its full potential, you are still going to have an old slow computer that will struggle to run modern software. Time for a new PC I'm afraid.

But i AM going to fully upgrade the pc. Here's what i have in mind:
ZOTAC NVIDIA GTX 750 1 GB DDR5 Graphics Card and for the processor bit there's a confusion
AMD 3.5 AM3+ FX 6-Core Edition FX-6300 + Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2PT Motherboard
or Intel 3.4 GHz LGA 1150 i3 4130 Processor+Gigabyte GA-H81M-S1 Motherboard
which is better for gaming?
