I put my Samsung 840 Pro I bought last year for my 2010 Mac Pro in my new Alienware X51 gaming PC. The Samsung Magician software is reporting that AHCI mode is deactivated and the SATA interface is not detected. I don't know if it matters but I used the Samsung software to benchmark the drive and found it's not quite performing at spec on writes but reads are above spec. Should I be at all concerned about these issues the software is reporting or can I ignore it since the drive is performing close to spec?

Solution
Without AHCI active TRIM is not supported. This will cause writes to underperform as the rubbish collection and deletion that TRIM uses is not happening. If you change mode you will need to reformat and re-install OS as windows will not recognise the disk after a change of mode.

Solution
not quite mate you can set ahci mode from inside windows to enable it after the windows install.
1. Startup "Regedit
2. Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlset / Services
3. Open msahci
4. In the right field left click on "start" and go to Modify
5. In the value Data field enter "0" and click "ok"
6. exit "Regedit"
7. Reboot Rig and enter BIOS

reboot enter bios and set ahci... job done...
