I tried to google the benefits of using wireless access points over wireless routers, I couldn't really find much. I do know that I want to have a centralized device to route the information, but I could configure a router to do that as well... can someone give me reasons why I would use wireless access points over wireless routers? Thanks

You need a router to even use an access point. access points are used to supplement/extend your range for wireless coverage.

Most people only need a wireless router and they are good to go.
