Can someone explain Gpu-Z categories to graphics card?

I noticed that the program has similar names for categories with the specifications of the graphics cards on the websites, but it isn't clear which is which.. I can understand the fan speed , temps, memory use, but i have no idea what the core clock refers to, or the shader clock, or the memory clock and all those clocks.. For example a random graphics card i have: ASUS ENGTS 450
GPU-Z Sensor: GPU core clock: 789.0 MHZ, Memory clock 902.0mhz, Shader clock: 1566.0 Mhz
Gpu Load: 0% (I dont run any games just idle)
Specs on the gpuboss website: Clock speed: 925 mhz, EFFECTIVE memory clock speed: 4000mhz, Memory clock speed : 1000Mhz... WHICH IS WHICH?? Where do i have to check on the program and the website for same category?

Hmm. A little difficult to explain via text, but I will take a crack at it.

The parts of a PC and the parts of a GPU communicate using digital impulses, as I am sure you are aware. The varying clock speeds are the rate, frequencies, at which these communication buses operate at.

Core clock = The set frequency that the cores of the GPU are operating at
Memory clock = The set frequency that the memory is operating at.
Effective Memory clock = DDR memory offers the capability to communicate on the rising and falling edge of the clock pulses (and phase shifting I believe for multiple signals on the same wire). This allows for more data to be transferred. Video cards these days tend to use DDR3 or GDDR5 so the effective clock will be some multiple of the actual memory clock.
Shader clock: This is another part of the GPU, hard-wired for handling a specific task. Usually a multiple of the core clock, 1:2 in this case

These are just terms you have to learn about.

Well yes, but the program shows differently and i can't find the max specs of the programs category i want to.. For example lets say core clock: it shows 789.. If in the specs of the card it doesn't say max core clock EXAMPLE 1200 how should i know the limits of my card? Thats the problem

That isn't what the program is for, it simply reports the values from the sensors on the card.

The vendor will provide the stock, reference, speeds for any particular GPU. After that it is the manufacturer's job to set their own limits within what Nvidia proscribes, limits enforced by being an Nvidia partner. The actual maximums will vary by card and your finesse in potentially overclocking.

GPU Clock should be the current setting provided by the vendor
Default Clock should be the reference values

Sensors tab will have the actual running core clock.
