Hello! I just got a switch and I am trying to connect my wireless router to it. Originally I used my router as a switch, but as I needed more ports I figured I might as well run my important items through the switch, then use the router just as a wireless access point.

I tried plugging in my router to the switch with its previous settings and I could not get an IP address. I also got a message on my phone saying the internet connection was too slow to that router. So I tried finding my router on my modem's device list to see if something was up, but I could not find it anywhere on there. It just had its old IP listed as 192.168.1.1 (which doesn't work anymore since the modem no longer directly connects to it). So I reset the router, and I still cannot seem to find it within my list of devices on the modem's admin page.

My modem is an ATT U-Verse 3600HGV.
My switch is just a simple Netgear FS205.
My router that I am trying to setup is a Linksys E2000

Not sure what to do as I cannot even seem to find my router's IP.

Have you followed the forum sticky when configuring your Linksys as an access point?

I'd recommend giving the Linksys a static IP outside of the 3600HGV DHCP range in order to get consistent access to the GUI.

Oh, so I should re-hook it up to my computer, assign it a static IP (so if my DHCP is like 255, call it 192.168.1.270), then hook it back up to my switch?

Yes, connect it LAN port to LAN port (don't use the WAN on the Linksys), disable DHCP and set a static IP address.
