Currently running an A8 6500 cpu and noticed that it's become progessivly slower and sluggish lately. Just looked on my task manager and noticed it says " 2 cores" and " 4 logical processors"

What does this mean? Every game I've run is taking up 70-80% of my cpu, I feel like it's not running at full capacity.

I've tried msconfig's boot settings already, as well as checking my bios, I just don't see anything that has anything to do with the amount of cores I'm running.

Think of cores as two CPUs, and think of logical processors as each of those CPUs being divided into two though not physically. In the processor, there are 4 threads because 4 logical processors = 4 threads, meaning basically that 4 sequences of instructions can be carried out simultaneously for performance gain over 1 thread. If one of those cores (or threads) is used up at 100% and the other ones are at 50% or so it can cause lag while gaming. It does not need to be the whole CPU at 100% to cause lag, only one core needs to be overflowed.

Understood. But it wasn't always like this, only until now is it running high cpu usage with everything. Opening a game it goes to 100%. DCUO used to run at about 20% cpu usage, now it runs at 60-70%

Check Taskmanager for any suspicious programs running and using a lot of resources.

I always check my task manager, never more than 33 processes open. At 0% cpu usage before starting a game.
