Hello, I have to decide between these two psu's.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/121099523224?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

and this one

I understand that the MSI GTX 970 needs a minimum of 500 watts and 12v at a minimum of 42A. Im not 100 percent sure what these numbers mean but I was wondering if either of these two Psu's work and which one to buy. Please tell me if there is a compatibility issue with either of these power supplies.

Manufacturers recommend that much because they expect some people will use a crappy PSU and overload it. If you get a good PSU, you rarely need to follow the manufacturer's recommendations, except for a few cases (looking at the R9 295X2).

I'd recommend the XFX 550W. It's cheaper than either of the ones you list, and it is a very high quality unit. It has more than enough power for a system with a single GTX 970.

From your options i would opt for the evga simply because its full modular 80+ gold certified. However, i would urge you to consider at least 750 watt psu for a bit of headroom. The Corsair RM range of psu's are top notch!

750W is more than a bit of headroom; you could get a second 970 with that kind of PSU. A good quality 500W unit is more than enough.

Also, I don't really like the Corsair RM series. The RM750 is made by Chicony Power, while the EVGA 750 B2 is made by is made by Super Flower (much better quality in general), and costs less.

They don't even list the brand or wattage. That's clear red flags. Do not buy.

The XFX 550W is not much more expensive, cheaper than the EVGA, and very reliable. Look for that instead.
