New graphics card makes boot slower

Hi all, I upgraded to EVGA GTX 970 FTW from MSI GTX 590 with the following specs:

Asus P8Z68 V LE (lastest bios)
i5 2500K
Windows 8.1 pro on SSD

When I first installed it, I didn't clean install the drivers, but then did, and again uninstalled restarted (got a fast boot), reinstalled and went back to slow boot again.

The slow boot is on post screen (10 seconds) and windows loading (30 seconds), it's usually in under 10 seconds total.

What do you mean by 'slow' is it just simply taking longer? I've got the same card and it flicks to 'No Signal' for about five seconds before loading up windows.

Yeah sorry, it takes longer, and I wanna add that the post screen shows twice. I'll check if my problem is No signal, but I don't think it is.

If you say that uninstalling the drivers makes your PC boot up faster, then this has to be a driver issue. Although a GTX 970 is a more powerful card and may take longer to "load" shall we say?

I'll uninstall it again and try. The boot time is more than 30 seconds long compared to less than 10 before, I hope it's a problem that I can solve and not have to live with. is there anything in the bios that I can check?

I tried these things yesterday, nothing worked:
- Display driver uninstaller from safe mode.
- Removing the graphics card
- Refreshing Windows 8.1
- Reset BIOS to default settings
- chkdsk /f /r

I have also noticed that once every 20 times, the boot is really fast (like normal), and all the other times it's more than 1 minute. Booting from shutdown is kinda fast (10-15 secs in bios, 3 secs in windows boot animation), but restart is taking all that time. Might be related to windows fast boot option.

Any help would be really appreciated.

So its as if your SSD is fluctuating between speeds once in a blue moon. Do me a favour and list full specs please. PSU, RAM etc.

I have the latest BIOS from ASUS. I sent them an email asking about an update because I've been reading that people solved a similar issue with an update, but for newer MBs.

I checked my SSD speed, 335~ read and 128 write. Is this normal?

PSU: Gigabyte 750W, I'll check the exact model later today.
RAM: Corsair vengeance DDR3 1600 3 x 4GB.
SSD: Kingston HyperX 120 GB.
HDD: WD 1 TB (tried disconnecting it, didn't work)

Try updating your AHCI driver and make sure that's enabled in your BIOS. Also try moving your SSD above your HDD in the boot order. If it continues try removing USB's and repeat the process your SSD speeds seem fine. I've a feeling its either a BIOS setting or a driver, I can see now that "BOOTLOG_LOADED \??\C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Fuel\amd64\AODDriver2.sys" is there. Yet you don't have an AMD CPU or GPU. If none of this works, I'd give this drive a good format.

Updating my AHCI driver fixed windows loading issue on restart. It takes around 35 seconds to restart compared to more than 1 before. The BIOS loading time is still around 20 seconds, but I can live with that. Thank you for you help
