Dear all,

I want to buy an new ip cam for my home.
The following is what I need:

1.) It will be used for outside ( IP66 )
2.) Vandal proof is an must
3.) Normal HD is the minimum (anything above is nice of course)
4.) Varifocus is not needed ( 2.4 mm as fixed size would be the most ideal )
5.) PTZ would be nice but not necessary
6.) IR is an must
7.) Prize: max. 300 dollars
7.) There are holes already so wired would be nice
8.) I personally prefer dome camera's above bullets

I did found some camera's from "Hikvision", but found out that there is "hikvision.com" and "overseas.hikvision.com". What is the difference? I ask this because different products are shown on both sites.

What do you recommand?

Ok, so if I would buy an inside camera you can buy an vandal proof? Ok, so let's assume nothing is vandal proof, but there are differences right? Or are all camera's equally when it comes to "vandal proof"?

Well...if it is 'inside', they'd need to be inside your house to do anything. And if they are already inside the house, you have much bigger things to worry about.

You could build an armored box for an outside camera to combat the baseball bat. And then a can of spray paint defeats that....

Elevation is your best vandal prevention. If it is out of reach it is hard to vandalize. But, as long as the camera captures who is vandalizing it, for prosecution, that is about the best you can do. Think of placements that don't have a blind approach.

@USAFRet Ah ok, I get your point now. What would you recommand?

@kanewolf, I know about PTZ, but I was kind of hoping there some options out there I did overlooked :) . What I did found was this one: Foscam FI9828W .The pictures seems to be good. Oh 720p was what I was trying to say

Ah, but elevation is defeated by a hat with a brim. All you know is 'someone' did it.
Overlapping coverage is the key. I have a fake camera, right next to the sign in the window. Obvious, and looks quite real. Take out that $5 thing, and the hidden real one captures you doing it.

OP...are you looking at wired or wireless? Personally, I would not do wireless. Less attack surface.

Thanks for you answers. I updated the start post for more info. Is there any difference in safety when comparing dome camera's with bullet camera's? Domes seem to be more secure

Height and having the cables internally in the housing are as much of "vandal proof" that you can really get, and whenever possible you want each camera being monitored by a different camera.

I have this switch driving my 4 IP cameras.
http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-SF1008P-100Mbps-8-Port-802-3af/dp/B003CFATT2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425999431&sr=8-1&keywords=tp-link+poe+switch

I use Huacam HCV-701 cameras but while they fit my needs they are not as high of resolution as you are wanting and are even larger then the trendnet ones linked earlier.

I also use and suggest BlueIris software for the NVR, just have to have a reasonably powered PC (i3 or better CPU, and 8GB of ram)

I have been looking at hikvision stuff for a while and there appears to be something very strange going on in their distribution channels. Almost all the retail location including huge ones like amazon and newegg have been declared unauthorized which means the will not honor the factory warranty. They obviously want the sales from these big retailers since they could easily stop it. Most the authorized sellers are the type that will want to sell it as a installed package not sell you equipment so it would be extremely hard for a individual to get the product authorized.

I suspect you just need to take into account that you are on your own when you look at the pricing on hikvision stuff.

The few hikvision cameras I have played with I liked a lot and the few people that I actually know that have them have no issues. At the moment my cameras are getting old and I have been thinking about new toys. I have not decided I still really like the ones I have seen.

I have never seen this issue before. I knew if I bought from ebay that could happen but even sears is on the list of unauthorized resellers.

No - it's the opposite. If they see video cameras, security lights, burglar alarms, etc. they know that you have something worth stealing. The best defence is a shabby house with an old wreck of a car in the drive.

HAHA. I have all that, actually!
Broken truck in the driveway? Check
Hanging gutter? Check
Motion detector porch light? Check
Cameras? Check

well Hk vision cameras are good , you can purchase them either on amazon.com or eBay, the Chinese version of seller is available on aliexpress.com
mostly in the range of US$ 100- 300 , you will get a good bargain.

What is your opinion on this.
http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/UnauthorizedDistributors.asp
Almost all the more common online places you can get these cameras are not authorized which means no support or warranty
