No CMOS Jumper, Computer still work?

Hi,

I noticed my computer turned on and operated normally with no jumper on pin 1,2 or 2,3.
Will this cause any damage, or does it reset the CMOS everytime?
Any information will be helpful, im a novice

I know how to replace it, but i was curious is this normal operation for it to turn on and operate without the jumper at all. Will this cause damage to the computer to do this? I can replace the jumper and I know how to reset the cmos.
