Feedback Request for Component List of First Time Gaming PC Build

I am a long time console gamer, and I still enjoy the platform. However, The Elder Scrolls series are among my favorite games, and it has become obvious that they will never reach their full potential on a console. So I have decided to attempt to build a PC. I don't need a super system, as I am happy gaming at 1080p. I would like to hit a fairly consistent 60fps and have my games look pretty. This will be my first attempt, and given the amount of money I am about to throw at this project, I wanted to get the advice of some seasoned builders.
My current component list is as follows:
Intel Core i7-4790
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler
Asus z97-a ATX mobo
Cooler Master HAF 912 mid tower
Crucial Ballistic Sport DDR3 1600 4GBx2
Corsair RM Series 850 watt power supply
Crucial mx100 512GB ssd
WD black 2TB hdd
Asus 24x DVD-RW
Nvidia GTX 970- brand not yet determined

I am relatively comfortable with most of the list. I'm concerned about the motherboard, seems to be fairly inexpensive but appears to my untrained eye to have everything I need. Also unsure about the RAM. Everything I have read says 8GB is all you need for a gaming rig, but for how long will that be the case. Do I need to buy some extra fans? I can't really visualize how everything will fit together, and how it will affect air flow as I have never attempted this before. I will add that I have no plans to do any overclocking or exotic 2 graphics card configurations. Any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated.

If you are spending that much money,

first i would get the unlocked i7 even if currently you don't intend to overclock, you won't need 500gb of ssd or 2tb hdd get 250gb ssd and 1tb hdd unless you specifically know you will use more than this, you don't need an 850w psu if you won't sli other than that its a nice build and the board is very good don't worry about it being too cheap its good quality
