My i7 4790 has always been a good chip for me. But when i decided it was time to up the ante and upgrade from my ASUS B85M-G MATX mobo to an ASUS Maximus VII Hero, It started to get a little warmer than i'm comfortable with. At Idle the cpu sits at around 35-50 C, but when i go to play CS:GO it spikes to as high as 92! However when i play a game such as DayZ it sits peacefully at around 70. I've reapplied thermal paste twice. I really don't feel like monkeying around in the bios seeing as i'm not to educated on the subject of overclocking. (That's why I bought a locked processor.) I have a stock cooler, Which has always done the trick.
