Got a new 8350 and I feel like it's underperforming. What's my problem?

I bought a new fx-8350 (had an fx-4170) along with a gtx 970 and i am kinda disappointed with the performance. My fps on Dying Light max are 40-50 and I can't even max out CS:GO without having fps drop into the low 50s. Am I expecting too much from my hardware or is there something that I am not doing right?

PC Specs

PSU: Antec TruePower 650W

CPU: AMD FX-8350 @4.0GHz

GPU: GTX 970

RAM: 4 x 4 gb G. Skill Ripjaw X series 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

MB: Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0

Intel must need a comeback too then since their processor isnt making higher fps than this in the tomshardware review

Would OC'ing my cpu give me higher frames or is it worth the trouble? (I've never OC'ed before)

It would improve performance, but remember that the 8350 is a very power-hungry chip, therefore it would produce lots of heat, requiring a beefy cooler. I think it's worth it because if a chip is unlocked with the potential to be overclocked then why not overclock?

Ok, thanks for the help. I was looking at getting a Corsair H80i hydro anyway.
