Hi all so I finished my third build and everything had been installed correctly and when I plugged the power in. The CLRTC chip started to smoke so I immediately shut it off. I noticed that my video card got unplugged from.the power supply. I plugged it back in but didn't retry turning the power on and its currently unplugged. Build is in the photo link below. All help is appreciated

I have been checking other similar threads and someone told me that it could of been me leaving my GPU unplugged from the PSU accidentally. It could of fried the Mobo. Not sure how correct this could be.

It appears the small black rectangular component just above the blue jumper is fried. I'm not sure what the component is or what it is for. I would contact the retailer for a replacement. If that fails, then contact the manufacturer for an RMA.

I'm open to doing this. How long does it usually take.

Like I said, the new board I would order is handled like a new order. I get it in 2-3 days. The refund may take several days (8 -10?) to show up on my checking account as refunded. And being a Premier member, the return shipping is free as is the new board's shipping. Premier members get a bit of a perk on shipping time too.

My only complaint is that my state now charges internet sales tax. Even if it's coming from California half way across the country. Grrr...

Thanks for all the help. I bought a new one and changed the old one from RMA to a refund. I am sending the old one in tonight. I don't have premier, but I'm considering getting it lol

If you don't me asking, but is that motherboard an M5A97? I just got one of those for a 2nd spare system recently and the pic looks awfully similar to that one. It's been working awesome so far, but it's only been a few days running and seeing this makes me nervous lol.
