Is this a good build for a mid-range gaming PC?

Hi guys! I am building my first gaming PC. I am on a very tight budget and I just want to ask for your most honest opinions if this build could give me a decent performance on today's latest games such as Battlefield 4 and Dying Light. I'm very new to this and I don't know much about building CPUs. Thanks!

Motherboard - ASROCK 960GC-GS FX
Processor - AMD FX-6300 Vishera
HDD - WD blue 1TB
Graphics Card - Palit GeForce GTX-750 Ti 2GB GDDR5 128bit OC StormX
RAM - Gskill Ripjaw 8gb 4gb x 2

Well if you have a budget, that's fine. Though I would recommend an i3 CPU. Do have a budget that I/we could work with?

Hello learningbitbybit, thank you for your immediate response. In fact, at first, I got confused. I was having problems deciding if I'm going for the i3-3240 or fx-6300. But then I've read that fx-6300 has more cores (6) than the i3-3240 (2) which, in their opinion, will produce better gaming performance. I'm not so sure though but that's what made me lean toward fx-6300. Could you please explain to me what's the difference between the two and what are their pros and cons. I am talking about a $350 budget, and I don't have plans of replacing it for quite some time. Thanks!

If you are deciding on those i3 cores, then no. Cores are actually becoming more popular as many programmers are looking into the possibilities with multiple cores. Though i5 cores are the best for gaming but they take up half your budget.
This article gives quite a detailed explanation: http://am.renesas.com/products/mpumcu/multi_core/child/features.jsp

But if $350 is your budget and that is the build you picked out, great! Looks good.
