Can I play games for about 6-7 hours in an overclocked stable system?

The reason I'm asking this is because I want to play games at max performance and quality and
I want a 6-7 hour gameplay.
But can an extremely Overclocking system handles games for this much longer.
I hope you understand what I m saying.
In simple I want to play games as long as I Play them and the System(Overclocked) must still be Stable.

Just because you can pass P95 no matter how long you run it, does not mean you are game stable!

P95 does not test Graphic and Audio under operating system load!

Another Important Thing I want to know
If I reinstall my Operating System or Format it then will this affect my system?
Because I have read many reviews of Disadvantages of Overclock
One of them is The Life span of your Components will reduce
Errors will occur when Installing new Operating System or Formatting or Reinstalling same OS.
Please give me Pros and Cons of Overclocking and Do read the Above Statements.
Thank you for your support.

If you reinstall your operating system do that at your stock settings not overclocked at all.

Regarding CPU lifespan, yes overclocking shortens its life everyone knows that!

That is an acceptable loss to overclocking that overclockers willingly accept, for the added performance they get from overclocking.

How much it is shortened is irrelevant, no one knows for sure anyway, as most will do a future upgrade before any failure ever happens.

The extent of the overclock is a contributing factor, and a mild OC is almost insignificant vs a really high overclock which is definitely more aggressive at time shortening, because it requires more voltage to stabilize, but really good cooling makes a difference in longevity also.

Are you just considering overclocking?

Or are you overclocked now?

I'm curious?

Your CPU-Z validation is reporting 1597.34mhz @ 2.848v, on a CPU stock clocked at 2.90ghz, so why put it in your sig?

I thought I was in the Overclocking Section, I must have took a wrong turn at the Forum entrance!

No I havent Overclocked?
and For Cooling Do you mean by Custom WAter cooling?

Yes due calm down I know... The reality is that any PC is suppose to be able to run games for 10hours straight with 0 issue but if you do have a prob and want to see where then P95 is a great tool to rule out ram and cpu or do you disagree with that as well?

I have to admit the misinformation posted in this one thread is amazing to me, because I thought some of the posters in this thread actually knew what they were talking about, but sadly that doesn't seem to be the case does it! :pfff:

For the record to clarify, passing stress tests does not mean you are system stable!

And overclocking wise you can do everything right and still have a CPU or GPU failure, there are no guarantees overclocking anything, it is a risk you take.

The most important thing is to know what you are doing, before doing it!

a stable overclocked systems means it can sustain load as long as you want to, so yes, if your system is really stable then you can play games on it as long as you want. However a stable system is about heat dissipation and there are other failures and risks while overclocking.

Errrr...

Yeah, his clock speed is 1597.34mhz at x16 on the multiplier but his multiplier goes up to x36 which would equal 3593.88mhz. That's a pretty decent overclock.

Take a chill pill dude.

Duh! Sarcasm! :pfff:

Oh you think I missed that?

I'll pass on the chill pill, cause I don't do drugs, but some breakfast would be fine with some coffee! :)

^ that sig was from another post mate ,just to prove a point - got accused of being an amd fanboy & was to prove that I do own Intel equipment as well as amd.
The PC in that sig is the size of a paperback book believe it or not & is mounted on the back of my living room tv - I use it for pretty much everything apart from gaming as it draws about 35w max.
I'll get round to changing it to one of my main amd rigs as it does confuse people ;)

That sig is with you every time you post here until you change it, most add the CPU-Z validation banner to show their overclock they reached not their idle, it simply shows you had power saving BIOS features enabled that dropped you down to the CPUs lowest idle operation point. It definitely proved your point that you own Intel equipment though. :)

just for you ,dropped my htpc/lounge gamer sig in there now,the big daddy upstairs 8 core rig will get a new sig when I can be bothered to switch it on for 5 minutes - too many computers in my house & too little play time
