Hi guys/gals! i'm thinking about getting an ASUS crosshair V and i'm wondering, does it have window 8.1 problem? i read on newegg reviews that they get BSOD, I really don't want that to happen. its just so tempting to get because its a great Mobo for an AMD processor.

one more thing, if you don't have an optical drive to run the CD it comes with, what are ways to update your bios? USB? Says i may or may not connect to the internet without updating not entirely sure.

Thank you for taking your time to read this, and i'm greatly appreciate your answers!
sorry if you don't understand my question, i'll try to elaborate it better.

The CD is just the drivers for the motherboard. It will be outdated. Always get the latest from the manufacturer drivers website.
I would download all the important installers onto a USB so when you get the motherboard, you just need to install windows, plug in the USb and install drivers straight from it.

The motherboard will support Window 8.1.

To update the BIOS, you need to use a Flash USB drive. This is how you update the BIOS with ASUS motherboards:

You download the latest BIOS from the manufacturer website as well.

Ahh! thank you so much! hmm, would you consider Msi 970 Gaming AM3+? its about 100 bucks cheaper, but i'm not sure if it will keep up. also, getting an fx 8370, trying my luck to go 4.8ghz

Yes the MSI 970 Gaming motherboard is a good choice as well. What cpu are you pairing it with?

fx-8370! hoping to get to 4.8ghz if not, its not really a priority. and of course cooling is important.
