What's taking up so much space on SSD Boot Drive?

Hi All,
Have recently built a system with 120 GB Boot Drive plus 1 TB Hard Drive for general storage. On previous PC's I've had only a single general purpose HD, so having dual drives is totally new for me.
Have loaded Windows 7, and not much else ( as far as I know) on the SSD Boot Drive. Have modified Windows settings in order to show hidden files.
My Boot SSD has "61.7 GB free out of 111 GB."
When I view the contents of the SSD, for the most part, it doesn't indicate how much memory each of the files and folders is occupying, even though I've selected the "Details" option.
Windows system auto backups are limited to 5% of the SSD.
So:
(1) How do I find out how much memory each of the files and folders is occupying on SSD?
(2) Is it reasonable to assume that Windows 7 is occupying nearly 1/2 of the SSD?
(3) How do I find out if anything unwanted is on the SSD, taking up space?

Many Thanks in advance for all advice/help.
Steve

I usually use WinDirStat which shows a good representation of each file and how much space it takes. I'm sure there are other similar tools, but I've used that one for so long I'm used to it. Also yes, Windows is a pretty huge mess of bloated crap and will generally take up a large amount of space. Though 50GB seems lke it's too much, did you disable hibernation and move your swap space to your spinning disk?
