is windows vista good for gaming

A friend of mine is building a pc ( i7 3770 8gb 1660 and a gtx 770 4gb, can windows vista make use of all features of this pc?is it good for gaming do i get the same performance as win 7 or 8 ? Will it support dx12?

Vista sucks at everything. Only windows 10 will support DX 12.

A lot of new games only work on 7 and 8.

all I know is a few of my games that loaded and played on vista don't load as well and have to do a workaround to do so in 7 or don't load at all -- after sp2 and all updates with vista it was better then 7 in some ways -- overall between the 2 its tit for tat . nothing to write home about
7 just got better new driver support and vista is left out

It depends on what kind of game you are talking about. If you want to play some old school games then yes, if you want to play recently released games, go with 7
