I've been asking around and trying to narrow down my parts. I feel like the parts I've got below would work but PC Part Picker is telling me there's a compatibility issue with the graphics card. I guess it's too long and "some drive bays may not be usable." I'm not sure if that would be an issue with everything or if it would all work out fine. I'm also unclear on if I need an optical drive. I have an external USB one, but I'm thinking that won't work for installing the OS? Anyway, input would be appreciated before I go ahead and stab my bank account and watch it bleed a slow agonizing death.

Preferred Website for Parts: Amazon.com (Preferable if I can get that free Prime shipping) and Newegg.com

Why Are You Upgrading: Time to retire my laptop and use it just for school stuff. It can't handle newer games that well.

Solution
That is a very nice build. All the parts will work together. All you need to do is remove a drive caddy because the GPU you will use is REALLY long. Other than that, It is really nice. As for the OS, you can use the usb.

Thank you! Now, just a super beginner question... Is removing a drive caddy any kind of difficult, or will it be self explanatory as soon as I see all the parts in front of me?
