Hi everybody,
I bought a used Palit Jetstream GTX 680. The guy who sold me told me that it might not work. The card was running ok until i tried to install nvidia drivers. 2 minutes after the installation i had artifacts all over the screen and the fans were spinning like crazy. This only happens when I try to install the drivers and I am 100% sure it is a graphics card problem!

Any ideas?

Solution
You bought a graphics card that the seller said it might be broken. You receive it and it turns out
to be broken. No surprise there.

Some people have had results in reflowing the solder joints (which in some cases can be achieved by 'baking' it in the oven)
I don't have a lot of faith in the process myself but you can try it if you wish.

Hi and thanks for your fast response. I am aware of that solution, but how could this occur only when I install the drivers? Why does it "work" without the drivers. If I am all out of options I will try reflowing.

Without the main Nvidia drivers the card runs off the Windows VGA driver set, which don't use the cards advanced hardware so, yep, card problem.
If you can't return the card you can try the oven trick, but it's a hit-and-miss option and rarely works for long.
