in regards to the build you linked... is that for a brand new pc or used? (you say both $1700 in one thread and $1450 in this thread). it may also be worth noting where you see this ad. if it is craigslist be very skeptical as there are tons of issues on there regarding computers such as not working parts, pirated os, or subpar parts snuck in. you need to triple check things if you buy from a person you do not know.

as above, you listed $1700 and now $1450. which is it?

is that i5-4690 a K version or just a normal one? (he has an overclockable motherboard so a non-k cpu would be a huge waste)

z97 pro motherboard says nothing about what brand it is. if its an asus z97pro then its good though a bit overkill for most people.

that price is very high for a r9-290 as you can get the better performing 290x for that price. both run HOT. you can get brand new gtx970's for that and even the 290x is cheaper.

the CX series of psus is not all that great and that price is sky high. you can do far better on reliability for that money.

for $20 more he could have put a 250gb samsung 840 evo in there which is going to be a better choice. the 850 is good but pricey.

razer headsets are generally rubbish. if you wanted you certainly have the budget to get something REALLY nice like a set of hifi headphones and pair them with a nice mic. your choice of course.

some of his prices seem high across the board while others seem about average. (or did you put the prices for the parts in there).

--

if the system is used for $1700, he is out of his mind for that price (unless you live outside the USA where prices may be bloated).

if the system is used for $1450 and only 6 months old then its not a terrible deal if those prices for components are fairly accurate. he isnt really cutting you a bargain but its not unfair either.

if the system is new for $1700 then i think you'd be better off picking a few different parts in certain areas or getting him to specify what some of the mystery parts are.
