I just had a motherboard replaced on my Gateway computer, I had dropped it and I needed another motherboard...now my computer somehow does not recognize the new motherboard. I do not have a recovery disk for my computer. It was given to me and they bought it from another person and did not have the disks that should have come with the computer.
Where can I get recovery disks and what kind of disk would be needed for a bootable CD for windows XP, if I were to find a download?
Also when I have turned it on it is asking for a password and is not taking the admin password that was originally there before the motherboard was replaced. What can be done with that?

If you did not replace the motherboard with a factory replacement one from Gateway then you are out of luck and will need to reinstall windows, and since the factory install of windows is tied to the factory hardware you will need a retail copy of windows to install as the "recovery discs" are tied to the factory hardware.
