Yes i'm losing my mind trying to understand a lot of the information on building a PC and I'm now asking for suggestions. I've got a small budget of only $500. I'm currently on a Macbook Pro with a logic board going out and i've found a buyer for $500 for it. So I will be starting from scratch. I would need a complete computer i.e. Monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers etc. I know it can be done but i'm having problems because of the lack of knowledge on processor differences...ie is a Core 2 3.4ghz faster than a Core 4 1.6ghz or AMD (no knowledge). I know i'm asking a hard thing, but I could really use the help.
P.S. I don't really want to leave my Macbook but with the logic board going bad it would cost over $1k to fix it. My MBP is a Core i7 2.66 with 6gb Ram and a 500gb HD. It is very fast but video editing is getting slower by the day due to my graphics card is build into my logic board and with my logic board going out there is no saving her.
