GPU Width and Power Supply Questions

I've recently decided to upgrade my rig, you can see the components here. Note: only the CPU/GPU/RAM will be new.

You may have noticed that it says basically: unable to verify that the GPU will fit in the case. I have a GTX 560 in there now, and I checked the dimensions of both cards. The 560 is (LxH) 8.25" x 4.38" and the 660 is 9.5" x 4.38". And for width they both say "dual slot". So as far as the length goes there shouldn't be an issue, I can definitely fit the extra inch and a quarter. But "dual slot" isn't very specific. I was wondering if dual slot is a standardized size or does it vary between cards? My 560 fits in there just fine, but there isn't a whole lot of play there. I figure if the 660 is much more than a quarter inch wider it could be a problem...

Also it says the estimated wattage is 324 and my PSU, as you can see, is 450W. Does that estimate sound about right or should I upgrade the PSU as well? Thanks in advance for you help.

Solution
If cash is short, here's what I would do:

Put them in together, if everything works ok in games and stuff, leave it be but keep an eye out and at the first sign of weakness get another PSU.

a dual slot gpu usually just exhausts heat through a grid and has more ports for plugging in visual cords like dvi/vga/hdmi. will it fit? It depends really. you if you have a mix atx case then yeah any card should fit just fine. anything smaller aaaand maybe not. it REALLY depends.

Dual slot is standardized, within a small error margin. Means that the card will occupy 2 of the horizontal bars you need to remove at the back of the case.
The 660 should fit without any problem.

As for the PSU, it might work but cutting it close. I would go with a 500-550w PSU to get some wiggle room.

Yeah I figured thats what dual slot meant, since the card I have in there now is dual slot as well. I was mostly wondering if there are significant differences in the width of dual slot cards since they don't provide a number like they do with the length and height, And all of my components are on the link I provided, but here are the parts you asked for:

Case: Topower TP-1687BS-400 MicroATX Desktop Case
PSU: FSP Group 450W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor

So the width will be pretty much the same then? In that case it should fit, as you said. And I guess I'll look into a new PSU too, I was just trying to see if I could get away without spending the extra 50-80 bucks :p

"and 80% of 450 is 360"

Thats not how efficiency works. The power supply should put out the advertised wattage (450 in this case) regardless of efficiency.
What efficiency is: the 80% is the supplied wattage and the 100% is the wattage from socket.

For example: a 800W PSU with 80% efficiency will draw 1000W from the wall to deliver the 800w advertised.

I understood most of that, but where does the 80% come from? But anyway according to your calculations I'm fine then, you just saved me some money :) If it doesn't work out I can always go back and order a PSU as well. Thanks guys.

Also is there a way I can pick both of you as having the solution lol?

EDIT:

Oh I thought that was weird, so even better for me then lol

There are more factors that kick in when calculating what PSU you need.

For example, over time, components in a PSU get old and are less efficient. Even more so when used at or close to their max capacity.
You also need to calculate other components like hdd's, fans, various pcie cards wich arent much but add up when you go with a low wattage PSU.

Hmmm, thats tough then. The site I'm using for the build gives the wattage as 324W, but I have no idea how reliable that is tbh. I do think it takes all the components I've listed into consideration though. Well except for the CPU fan, I couldn't find an option for "stock fan" on the site. Would it hurt anything if there's not enough juice? If not I'm tempted to go with what I have and see if it works without having to open my wallet again.
